Ginger.....
Ginger has a widespread use and a lengthy history; China, India, and Greece have noted both its medicinal and economic importance. Documentation of Ginger has been recorded as far back as five thousand-year-old Greek literature. The trade of such spices was the root of the world's economy for centuries. Wars were waged over its economic trade influence.
Together with black pepper, ginger was one of the most commonly traded spices during the 13th and 14th centuries.
Today this spicy herb is most known as an epicurean delight for flavoring gourmet dishes and for its curative appeal.
