Matri: Tea of the Mother from Sacred Rose

It has been a gloomy few days here in NYC. The grey clouds are heavy and the tops of skyscrapers are veiled in misty fog. This weather makes it difficult to get up in the morning, and seems to enhance little aches and pains. I’ve been saving a special herbal tea for just the right occasion and I could use a little pick-me-up after this depressing weather. I don’t usually drink tisanes, as I’m not a huge fan of herbal or floral tasting brews. But I love to try new things. I’m glad I kept an open mind.

Sacred Rose teas come in a lovely brown and pink striped box, which brightens up my day just by looking at it. The leaves smell like dried grass and herbs, but I can’t pinpoint anything specific. I added a bunch of the mixture to a cup with a strainer, and poured in the hot water. The brew smells very grassy, which I assume is from the alfalfa and dandelion. There is also a hint of lemon and ginger.

It has a very pleasant taste. Gently grassy, a bit lemony and a slight taste of ginger. It has a nice calming effect. It is very soft and smooth on the tongue. I’ve had a sore throat for a few days, and this tisane is definitely soothing my throat a bit. On this damp and cloudy day, it is warming and cheerful. The grassy flavor makes me hopeful for sunny days out in the park.

Sacred Rose describes this tea as:

A delicate blend of nettles, red raspberry, rose hips, alfalfa, dandelion, lemon and ginger that breathes women in birth in the most high and loving way. This tea mineralizes the physical body. Metaphysically it activates the frequency of manifestation; concept into fruition assisting those who often procrastinate in life.

Even though I am not an expectant mother, I do have two young children and could use a special tea like this when I am particularly exhausted. If you have any dear mother friends out there, especially those that are expecting, this uplifting tea would make a beautiful gift.

Time for Tea, and Raspberry-Peach Buttermilk Cake

Pausing, midday, for a cup of hot tea is one of those treats I rarely allow myself. That shouldn’t be the case. Taking time to step away from the stove, or the computer screen, is so beneficial to my general well-being; it should be a natural part of my day. That moment to regroup, restore, and refill the creative well is as easy as bringing water to a boil.

I was reminded of this when I was asked to sample some organic herbal teas for a company, Sacred Rose. I set aside my work, took out the only tea cup left from a set that once belonged to my grandmother, and poured a delicious, heady brew. That bit of self-nurturing was just what I needed–and the non-caffeinated concoction gave me a little boost, without the spike and drop of coffee.

DSC_0064

Sometimes, it’s nice to take the pampering a step further.

I follow a blog, Darjeeling Dreams. Here, Joyti has written much about the world of tea: the types and blends, tisanes and infusions, the rituals of steeping and sipping. She also has some wonderful recipes–mostly desserts—many of which are perfect to enjoy with that vibrant midday cup.

One recent recipe caught my eye. It had all the right elements–a pleasing aesthetic, and an intriguing complexity in flavors created in a simple preparation. It is also her friend’s favorite: a one layer, unfrosted, fresh Raspberry Buttermilk Cake.

DSC_0021

One day, I decided to make it, although with slight variation. I had just a handful of raspberries in the house, and a couple of very ripe peaches. Peaches and raspberries baked onto a buttermilk cake sounded appealing, too.

DSC_0025

It’s the sort of cake that you can whip up by hand. I like that. No need to lug out the stand mixer. There’s a wee bit of preplanning: be sure to have the butter softened, so that it will cream nicely with the sugar. And, have the buttermilk at room temperature–it will more readily blend with the creamed butter-sugar mixture without clumping.

Joyti makes her cake with a combination of whole wheat and white flours. My pantry offered only unbleached all purpose white flour, so, again, there’s a slight variation.

DSC_0028

It baked beautifully.

And the taste? Elegant.

This is a barely sweetened cake, and the buttermilk imparts a rich tang. The crumb is soft. The raspberries almost melt into the batter as it bakes. This aspect is what really makes the cake special, and if you have only raspberries–so much the better. The peaches, while pretty, remain sitting on top–their juices don’t influence the cake’s outcome so much.

One night, I served it to friends with a scoop of vanilla ice cream drizzled with peach and plum sauces I had made.

But now, it’s just me. So, I’ll steep a pot of this grounding tea, and have a slice. If you’re in the neighborhood, come on over. I’d love to share.

RASPBERRY-PEACH BUTTERMILK CAKE
(adapted from Joyti’s Darjeeling Dreams)
2 Cups All Purpose Flour
1 T. Baking Powder
pinch Salt
1/2 Cup Sugar
6 T. Butter, softened
1 1/3 cups Buttermilk, at room temperature
Zest from 1 Lemon
1 Egg
1/2 Cup Fresh Raspberries
1-2 sliced Peaches
2 T. Demerara Sugar

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line the bottom of a 9″ springform pan with parchment, and butter the sides.
Mix dry ingredients–flour/baking powder/salt in a bowl and set aside.
In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together,
Whisk in the buttermilk, lemon zest, and egg.
Stir in the dry ingredients, and mix until well incorporated.
Pour into prepared springform pan.
Arrange sliced peaches around the circumference of the caketop. Place raspberries in the center.
Sprinkle with Demerara Sugar and bake for 30-35 minutes.
Allow to cool 15 minutes before removing .

Enjoy with a cup of tea.

Sessions

Vibrational Somatic Therapy

In the evolution of the consciousness of humanity, our bodies (both subtle and dense) have become the depository of inherited and collective global memories. These memories hold the congealed trauma patterns (physical ailments, relational despair, global hunger, struggle and war) of a dis-eased humanity.

You are both bio-chemical and electromagnetic. The frequency of your body is a manifestation of your thoughts, words and emotions along with the foods and beverages you ingest, the air you breathe, the environment in which you live and the experiences you draw in.
Vibrational Somatic Therapy is an energy healing modality. It uses frequencies of light, sound and touch to align and harmonize your being. The use of energies in this way is an ancient form of healing used by many civilizations throughout history.

One of the basic principles is that the physical body is the outer manifestation of our inner consciousness. Vibrational Somatic Therapy is a living technology that interfaces with entry points of congealed enery in the body-mind. It addresses root causes, rather than symptoms, by healing at the cellular level. The effects are cumulative, and the healing expands into the subtle (mental, emotional and spiritual) and dense (physical) bodies of your energetic system.

Vibrational Somatic Therapy is an effective catharsis of energetic blockages (such as entities, lost souls, soul fragments and dysfunctional energetic imprinting) successfully neutralizing trauma, addictions, anxiety and panic, thereby freeing you to experience confidence, peace and relaxation in your body. Following catharsis, you may reclaim your resurrected self and begin to embody your luminous state of consciousness.

Vibrational Somatic Therapy sessions assist you in raising your resonant frequency. Sessions are profound and life enhancing. As your physical experience evolves from the form known as Homo sapiens to the new form, Home spiritus, you are activating your Divine Spark, increasing your level of consciousness and fully embodying your authentic self.

A private 1 1/2 hour Vibrational Somatic Therapy session is $144.00, available by appointment only.
Schedule a session in NY, NJ, PA and FL.

Today is one of those days where I could really use a do-over card. On these days, I have found that grounding and centering myself really seems to help. And I do use tea to help in this process. Since I just happened to have a sample of an herbal blend that is specifically designed for this, I decided to give it a try.

Mother Earth Zest is a blend comprised of ginger, spearmint, fennel and sage. According to the website it assists in bringing a sense of fullness and grounding to our lives. It is also supposed to help with digestion. Looking at my sample, it is rather green with smaller bits of dried herbs. The aroma is predominantly spearmint with just a touch of ginger.

The brewing instructions call for one teaspoon of the blend added to boiling water and let steep for three to five minutes. Since I tend to prefer my herbals stronger, I decided to let it steep for five minutes. The infusion is a pale cloudy green with a strong aroma of spearmint with a hint of sage coming out.

When it is very hot the brightness of the spearmint and the spiciness of the ginger play nicely on the tip of the tongue. As the blend starts to cool, the flavors start to blend more and I am able to pick up the sage also. I am not able to find the fennel though I am sure that it is part of the marriage of tastes.

I find this to be a very enjoyable herbal blend that I will probably keep around the house just to sip and to also use for grounding. Though I will recommend to ensure that you enjoy spearmint before giving this blend a try.

I found myself quite attracted to this blend, simply for the word "zest" in the title. Something about that word just screams, "I haz a happy!" Poor kitten-like grammar included. The blend contained ginger, spearmint (my favorite mint), fennel and sage. This seemed like a very herbaceous but appetizing combination. Ginger and fennel had very nuanced profiles (if loud), and spearmint and sage were more calming. The yin-yang of it all might work to the blend's benefit.

The fusion certainly worked for the aroma. Spearmint, ginger and sage did something to my nose that made it relax in ecstasy. It was like freebasing Indo-Greek toothpaste.

Brewing instructions verbatim from the SR website: "To retain the aroma & flavor of Sacred Rose® Organic Herbal Teas infuse one teaspoon of your favorite Sacred Rose® Blend into one cup of boiling water for 3-5 minutes." I did exactly that with the heavier-set brewing time.

The liquor brewed up the way a lot of Sacred Rose "teas" did - to a foggy, yellow-green. Explanation? They're herbs, and that - apparently - is herb-color. Moving along. The aroma for this was majestic and calming at the same time. Spearmint took point, then ginger pushed it off the pirate plank. As for the fennel and sage, maybe they'd show up in the taste. And show, they did! Fennel gave the initial tonguedown a nutty/creamy lean, allowing for the refreshing spearmint/sage middle. Ginger spiciness took up the rear. This was positively awesome. I want it as a breath mint.

The promise extolled by Sacred Rose about Clearing Tea is that it helps rid the body of unwanted thoughts, feelings, and (on the physical front) detoxifies the colon. The blend's primary goal is to provide cathartic release of stress and trauma and the physical maladies that come with it. If there was ever a month I needed a "tea" like this...it was this one.

The blend included black walnut bark, taheebo, spearmint, sage and rose hips. Taheebo is another name for lapacho (Pau D'arco) - the inner lining of a tree native to Central and South America. I've had it in two different forms before, and found the taste neutral-to-agreeable. It's "technically" wood and tastes like it, but many health properties are associated with it. The other ingredients were known to be on the holistic front except for black walnut bark. No clue what that was there to contribute.

The boldest presence on smell was the spearmint, which often emits an odor like toothpaste. This time - in conjunction with the woodier elements in the batch - it smelled like peppermint. Green leaves dominated the blend's visual array but reddish lapacho strips and rose hips did make their presence known.

Brewing for all Sacred Rose blends called for 1 teaspoon of herb to 1 cup of boiled water with a steep of three-to-five minutes. I was too tired to change things up, so I went with their recommendations to the letter. Generally, with herbals, I would've gone for six minutes, but I wasn't sure of how some of the elements would handle it.

The liquor brewed chestnut brown, which was something I was not expecting at all. I assumed the walnut bark had something to do with that. None of the other elements - even the lapacho - would've resulted in a cup that color. The aroma had several layers; spearmint dialed in first, followed by something equal parts creamy and woody. I had no idea what I was in for and took a precarious sip. A minty note greeted the tongue first, toasty nuttiness followed close behind, and the last passengers off the "flavor bus" were unidentifiably herbacious.

I can say it was a relaxing beverage with a smooth delivery, and that seems to be the case with almost all of Sacred Rose's blends. Some skimp on taste for health properties, but they're all smooth for the most part. This, at least, was smooth and satisfying. Dunno if it did anything cathartic to me, though, other than a sigh of relief with the sip.

A little background. No, not on the blend just yet, but the events leading up to trying the blend. I had just made a run to Jack in the Box and was belching fire. (Damn you, spicy chicken sammich!) The time I got home? Midnight. So, technically, it was morning by the time I tried Morning Blossom.

I found it odd that it was named as such, given its ingredients - peppermint, spearmint, rose, ginger and alfalfa. Neither spearmint or peppermint can be considered wake-up herbs by any stretch, or rose for that matter. Ginger? I suppose that "could" have zing to it, and I can't say I know much about alfalfa other than its status as herbivore bait.

Most of the ingredients of the blend were readily apparent. Peppermint and spearmint took up the leafy leverage, while purple flecks of rose, beige alfalfa, and bits of ginger rounded it out. As for the aroma, no surprise there. Peppermint cleaned out the sinuses with the fluoride-like spearmint picking up the leftovers.

Brewing instructions for all of Sacred Rose's tisanes called for 1 teaspoon per cup and a steep of three-to-five minutes. Like with all the others, I obeyed the recommendations to the letter and infused at the greater length of time.

The liquor brewed to a very bold, foggy prime-yellow. Can't say I've ever run into either a tea or tisane that ever yellowed this much. It almost makes me wish there was snow to pour it on, so as to trick passersby. (End of inappropriate joke. Moving on.) The aroma had a citrusy profile, which is odd since there weren't any lemony herbs in the mix. Best guess I could make was the mint-muted ginger. The mints and ginger carried through almost undeterred to the taste. All three dominated the front and middle, whereas the finish was...something else. Floral maybe? I dunno. In short, it earned a very big "LIKE!".

Sacred Rose appears to be based out of eastern Long Island, and they are all about utilizing organic herbs to heal the mind, body and soul. Their statements about their products, deeply rooted in New Age spirituality, may be a little far-fetched for non-believers, but Sacred Rose does produced some delicious and interesting blends - mystical powers or not.

Mother Earth Zest is a blend of earthy herbal ingredients, offset by a minty potency. Ginger, spearmint, fennel and sage are all blended (after being apparently finely ground, as the only recognizable bits of this blend are shredded green leaves and a greenish-yellow dusty powder). The scent of the dried herbs has a definitive spiciness to the nose - the mint is evident, as is an earthy-yet-tangy zing. Referring back to the purported holistic properties, this tea is said to be "healing to the root chakra," and is also reported to aid in digestion.

A 5-minute infusion with boiling water brings out the best in this tisane. The liquor is a pale and murky green-yellow with a cloudy green-tea-like appearance, and a similar aroma to that of the dried blend, but with a bit more "funky" smell to it -- in an intriguing way, not quite off-putting.

I'm not sure if it's my palette playing tricks on me, or chalk it up to the natural settling of the ingredients, but the first half-dozen cups of this tea (in the late PM) have been minty and refreshing, with a taste emphasis on the spearmint with a touch of fennel. Now, the last two cup (mid-day) have a much more prominent spiciness and earthiness from the sage and ginger. I'm almost certain it's the latter (settled ingredients), as the last swig in the cup contains quite a bit of dusty settlings and has a higher-potency of that earthiness. Those who prefer their mint teas crisp and clean may want to avoid this one, but for those with a sense of adventure and intrigue, the blend here raises a few eyebrows and provides a unique flavor.

Over the last week or two, this tea has been my go-to cup when reaching for a 10 PM tisane. It makes for a relaxing and tasty cuppa while reading a book in bed before drifting off for some shut-eye. I recommend shaking the container to ensure proper distribution of all ingredients.

Sacred Rose® Organic Herbal Teas stimulate the energy body's innate ability to heal. Each Sacred Rose® blend facilitates an inner alchemy within the matrix of the body mind opening the gateway for a change in consciousness. Sacred Rose® is committed to providing products which sustain our creative life force and our planet. Our herbal tisanes are enjoyed as beverages and also utilized as vibrational remedies.”

Each of their herbal tisanes is blended to have a specific vibrational power, and is accompanied by a short invocation. Whether you believe in all this or not, their products are sustainable, organic, and eco-friendly, which is all to the good.

“Matri” (a registered trademark) comes from the Latin for "mother," mater and appears at the front of words like matriarch. According to the website this blend “breathes women in birth in the most high and loving way. This tea mineralizes the physical body. Metaphysically it activates the frequency of manifestation; concept into fruition assisting those who often procrastinate in life.” I’m long past birthing anyone, but I do procrastinate and so this one appealed to me. A little mineralizing probably wouldn’t hurt, either.

The Matri tisane is crafted from nettles, red raspberry, rose hips, alfalfa, dandelion, lemon & ginger. If I remember my herb lore correctly, nettles and dandelion are often used to purify, and red raspberry is used to help with various women’s reproductive system issues. It’s an interesting-looking mix, with lots of alfalfa, which looks like dry grass, rose petals, and even a few rose buds. I didn’t see any rose hips, and wonder if that was a misprint? It had a strong sweet aroma composed of powerful notes of rose, with a citrus and ginger background.

I steeped a generous teaspoonful in 8 oz. of 208F water for 4 minutes in my favorite hand-thrown porcelain cup. The liquor was a medium yellow and softly redolent of lemon, rose, and ginger. The flavor was, smooth and mouth filling, and naturally sweet. (I wouldn’t even add honey to this.) As it rolled over my tongue I tasted rose, lemon, ginger, and an underlying herbiness that must have been the mélange of the remaining ingredients. Altogether it was quite delicious and left my tongue tingling a little. Whether that was the ginger or its vibrational power, I can’t say, but it was nice. I’ve very picky about herbal tisanes, but this one is delicious!

I tried a second 4 minute infusion. The aroma was still strong, and a bit more lemony this time. The flavor was not quite as strong, but still nicely complex with rose leading the way and a gingery finish.

Whether or not you subscribe to the metaphysical claims for this tisane, it is undeniably delicious! Now if it will just help with my procrastination. Highly recommended!

Sacred Rose® (LTD) is an outfit that has an interesting if "out there" mission statement. The goal of their herbal blends are to - and I quote - raise "the vibrational frequency of humanity one cup of tea at a time." Yeah. You can't get any New Age-ier than that, folks. I don't mean that as a slight, rather a statement of awe. That would have to be the boldest esoteric tea claim I've heard in quite some time. Now, I've done my fair share of research regarding "human vibration frequencies", particularly on the Law of Attraction side. (I.e. The happier you are, the more likely you are to attract happy happenstances based upon your happy...uh...stance. In other words, b.s. from The Secret.) I, actually, consider myself a bit of an amateur New Age enthusiast. I personally noticed the better my day was if my mood reflected it.

Well...today wasn't one of those days. A tension headache made short work of my good mood for most of the day. Ibuprofen wasn't helping. I even stayed away from my engorged tea collection for fear of making the imaginary skull-vise worse. It was kept relatively in check with frequent snacking, constant glasses of water, and a general policy of "calm-the-f-word-down". The night prior, I researched herbal concoctions that might help with it. Three kept popping up in my online perusal - chamomile, valerian root and skullcap. It just so happened that one of Sacred Rose's blends - one I'd request to review, the one I'm writing about now - had all three, as well as dashes of passion flower.

I guess I must've been vibrating something fierce to will that kinda luck. Their Dreamtime® blend - also coincidentally - was specifically designed to coincide with aligning the Sixth Chakra, also known as "Ajna"; the Brow Chakra, The Third Eye, right in the middling of my head. Awesome. My Third Eye was angry about whatever and needed something hot and beverage-y to calm it's...uh...Ajna-ness down.

What to say about the blend on first impression: Well, it smelled like medicine. Foul, foul medicine. The aroma reminded me of something a fantasy genre-borne apothecary would concoct to remove a curse. Most of the blame rests in the blend, not the blender. Chamomile naturally smells like medicine and buttery blossoms - kinda neutral - whereas valerian root has the fragrant consistency of wet socks and weeds. Or weeds in wet socks, not pleasant. Appearance-wise, the blend fared better in its lovely bouquet of greens and yellows, resembling contents of a "faery" garden.

There were brewing instructions on the Sacred site, but that didn't matter much. These were herbs, strong-willed ones at that. Typical approach: 1 heaping tablespoon of leaves/blossoms in 8oz of freshly boiled water, steeped for six minutes. My headache didn't allow for much deviation from that, so I stuck with what worked before.

After the allotted time, the infusion colored to a pale green-gold. The aroma was thankfully more chamomile medicinal than valerian woodiness. A citrus and mint profile were also there somewhere; odd since there weren't any of either in the herbal pastiche. The taste reflected the aroma. Chamomile dominated, followed by a woody middle and a wild mint-like finish. It resembled chamomile blends I've had before, but had a better balance to it. I've even attempted some on my own with similar ingredients to only passable success.

This definitely isn't an inexpensive item. It's available as a 3oz package, and that's it. Some folks versed in herbs could easily pick up their own ingredients in bulk and blend it themselves for cheaper. However, the time for trial and error to match the balance on this dreamtime blend would probably not be worth it. My headache also alleviated a tad. Sacred Rose - for good vibrations or bad - know what they're doing.

Beloved - Sacred Rose® - Organic Herbal Teas

Thumbs up! "The fact that it also looked like a rose wine just made it scream, "PASSION!""
Geoff’s Teaview: 9.1/10

An actual dialogue I had with my mother, paraphrased and abridged slightly:

Mom: "We picked up this tea for you in Cabo. It's a cactus tea!"

Me: "That's great!...Wait...it's not 'damiana', is it?"

Mom: "That's it."

Me: "Mom...that's an aphrodisiac."

I only know this because I'm no stranger to the stuff. Damiana is an unassuming shrub native to Texas, Mexico, Central and South America, and parts of the Caribbean. It's historical and medicinal use has primarily been in strengthening the libidos of both women and men. And - oh boy - does it work. I learned that by accident. No, I will not relate how I know that. Totally not PG.

Which brings us to Sacred Rose's Beloved blend, a "consummate alchemy aphrodisiac of damiana leaf, jasmine, hibiscus, hawthorn, pomegranate and wild cherry bark, blended under the Law of Resonance of the One Sacred Heart of the Creational Flame." Yes, that is verbatim from the tisane's profile.

Visually, this was a very striking blend. Bulbs/buds of some sort were the most prominent presence. Hibiscus strands and cherry pieces came in close second. Last were the various green herbs I couldn't identify on sight. Aromatically, the damiana was quite strong; it possessed a naturally woody/mint nose. Rounding out the scent were tart hibiscus and sharp jasmine. A very herbal-smelling blend.

Brewing instructions weren't present on the Sacred Rose site, but with herbal infusions that never mattered. A six-minute steep in boiling water did the trick. I did that with 1 tsp in an 8oz cup.

The liquor infused to a transparent but bold red, a clear mark of the hibiscus presence. The smell was like straight pomegranate juice - heated, of course. The flavor of this was shockingly pleasant. I was expecting a mouthful o' medicine but got a lovely berry taste. Sure, the hibiscus was quite tart, but the cherry and pomegranate added a bit of robust sweetness to the occasion. The fact that it also looked like a rose wine just made it scream, "PASSION!"

While I don't have much of a frame of reference, this was the best damn damiana-based blend I've ever tried. You hardly taste the woody leaf amidst the berrysplosion of taste. It also sweetens well, further adding to the juicy comparison. I'm not sure that's what the Sacred Rose folks were aiming for, but it's a good faux tea to have by candlelight...before breaking out the Barry White.

(Note: To add even further to the absurdity, I was taste-testing this on Valentine's Day.)

Women's Wellness - from External Techno Control to Inner Dominion

by Maria Pologeorgis
The global consciousness of women is sculpting a new model of health. This consciousness is evolving from the old focus on dis-ease into the new concept of wellness. Intrinsic in this wellness model is the concept of wholeness. As more and more women move into their innate knowing and embodiment of the Divine Feminine, they are healing and becoming whole.

This inner guidance prompts women to ask themselves: What is my role as a woman, other than a wife, mother, daughter? Is my social life balanced between relating with others and reflection time with self? Am I nurturing others as much as I allow others to nurture me? Do I receive as much time, love and investment of my energy as I give? Is my expression of my creative passion well received in my relationships?

The most basic and fundamental question women ask themselves when looking within is: "Are my choices dis-eased based - consuming and depleting - or wellness - based - enhancing and fulfilling." Taking dominion of our lives and quietly listening to the innate feminine wisdom is cooperating with the consciousness of our wellness.

This wellness consciousness encourages the commitment to living, creating, enjoying and passionately expressing the balanced union of masculine and feminine energies. The more we all personify this natural law of union the more we heal. The channel for this expression is the body/mind of womanhood.

The term body/mind is used because the body and mind are interrelated systems that cannot be separated. The mind's focus encodes thought (father - masculine energy) and emotion (mother - feminine energy) and converts them into substance, which is then stored in the cells of the body.
The merging of the emotional energy field with the physical energy field is the Divine Feminine. The Divine Masculine is the thought seed. This body/mind energy system is dynamic, and one can create healing or dis-ease depending on one's focus.

If the body/mind energy congeals, rather than flows, disease will follow in the location of the frozen energy. If the body/mind energy flows, the energy will thaw, creating healing.

When we listen to the inner guidance of our body/mind system, we can track our mental, emotonal and physical patterns. By translating the body's health or dis-ease language, we can determine whether we are producing dis-ease or wellness.

According to studies, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women, and the leading cause of death for women between the ages of 40-50. Studies also have shown Long Island women have higher risk factors for breast cancer than the national average. As a result of this elevated risk, more and more women on Long Island are raising their consciousness and aligning themselves with holism and holistic modalities and practices.

We can also explore the psycho-spiritual significance of this dis-ease pattern. For instance, the breasts symbolize nurturing, and the giving and receiving in life. Perhaps Long Island women feel an imbalance in the giving and receiving in their lives? Perhaps they require more nurturing and the resulting resentment freezes in their breast tissue, creating a cancerous pattern?

In connecting with the frozen energetic, the congealed imbalance can thaw, the emotions can flow and healing can begin. Once this is brought to surface, lifestyle changes to re-balance the giving and receiving pattern of nurturing can lead to patterns of wellness living rather than dis-ease management. This can be the outcome of looking within and heeding the voice of inner guidance.

As women listen to their inner guidance and respond accordingly, rather than follow the external techno-control model, a "healing" begins to occur rather than a "curing". "Physician heal thyself" is a powerful prescription.
